I think it's about 50/50 in participation here in Central Texas, but if you look at the Halloween store, they have more adult-sized costumes and themes than they do for small kids. My husband has only been in the states here (from England) for 4 years and he finds it fascinating as well. He has a Guy Fawkes costume he wears each year and told us the story and we "celebrate" Nov 5th with fireworks and sometimes a small fire where we have been known to burn a scarecrow. :)
Why do you dress up for Halloween
It's costume time. The requests include fairy godmothers, superheroes, adorable animals, and their favorite toys. It’ll be impossible to put all of that together in one amazing group costume. Unless, of course, you turned to some Disney costumes! In this wonderful world, you're sure to find characters from all walks of life that manage to go hand-in-hand thanks to a few waves of the wand of our favorite fairy godmother! With Disney group costumes, you can introduce Peter Pan to his very own Dalmatian friend and you'll still have room for Moana and the Little Mermaid to help you find Nemo! And after all that, folks will just want to know when your Disney special is going to come out! Take a look at some of our favorite Disney themes or put your own group costume ideas together.
Start singing a tune and skipping down the road, because we have a massive collection of officially licensed Wizard of Oz costumes that will bring the storybook tale and movie to life for your whole group. Gather up a Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion and you've got group costumes for 4 that you'll want to sing about. If you have more people in your group, there's always witches, wizards, flying monkeys, and munchkins!
Busting ghosts is not an easy process. It involves a lot of people, some serious science, and careful planning. That last one is huge. (They need to know who to call, right?!) So suit up in your officially licensed Ghostbusters costumes to make sure everyone recognizes each of your ghost busting team. Get your proton packs ready to go and avoid crossing the streams if you can! (Don't forget that Slimer and Stay Puft are great group options to fill out your team look.)
Does the group work in the same area and does this area lend itself to unique or unusual decorating ideas? Sometimes the work area may remind you of something that allows you to create a theme around it. Example: our workspace had walkways that meandered around reminding someone of the Candyland board game. The workers then put brightly colored squares on the floor and each dressed as Candyland characters.
In Judaism, a common practice is to dress up on Purim. During this holiday, Jews celebrate the change of their destiny. They were delivered from being the victims of an evil decree against them and were instead allowed by the King to destroy their enemies. A quote from the Book of Esther, which says: "On the contrary" (Hebrew: ונהפוך הוא) is the reason that wearing a costume has become customary for this holiday.
The group was formed in 1983 by members Rick Craig, Brian Thomas, George Neal and Bill Whyte. Its debut album Don't Metal with Evil was released in 1985 on the Motor City Metal label. In 1986, Halloween started work on its follow up to Don't Metal With Evil, Victims of the Night. However, the record was shelved until it was finally released on Molton Metal Records in 1997.

Besides, there are so many perks to dressing up with your friends. To start, the group approach makes more of an impact. This means each person doesn't have to dish out a chunk of change for the occasion. However, when you stand together or take a group picture, your otherwise simple outfits make for an amazing (and hilarious) Halloween group costume idea.

Draping is the art of manipulating the fabric using pins and hand stitching to create structure on a body. This is usually done on a dress form to get the adequate shape for the performer. Cutting is the act of laying out fabric on a flat surface, using scissors to cut and follow along a pattern. These pieces are put together to create a final costume.
Cosplay, a word of Japanese origin that in English is short for "costume display" or "costume play", is a performance art in which participants wear costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea that is usually always identified with a unique name (as opposed to a generic word). These costume wearers often interact to create a subculture centered on role play, so they can be seen most often in play groups, or at a gathering or convention. A significant number of these costumes are homemade and unique, and depend on the character, idea, or object the costume wearer is attempting to imitate or represent. The costumes themselves are often artistically judged to how well they represent the subject or object that the costume wearer is attempting to contrive.
In true millennial fashion, you and your squad can dress up as social butterflies. First, you'll need pairs of butterfly wings in a rainbow of colors. If you're crafty, you can easily make a pair of antennae with a headband and two pipe cleaners. Next, print out the logos of your favorite social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Pin or tape it to your clothing and you're good to go. (But not before you post it on the 'gram, of course.)
